Another go at fanfiction.

Doctor Who, takes place after s4.

The Doctor had never felt so content in his long life. The sun was just rising, streaming through the window and into the room. It illuminated Rose’s hair, turning the blonde curtain to the color of burnished gold. He watched her as she slept beside him.

The peace lasted a short time before a soft cry was heard in the other room. Rose’s eyes opened and she listened carefully, but the baby made no more noise. She relaxed again against the Doctor’s chest. He kissed her hair, whispering what didn’t need saying into her ear…

With a start the Doctor’s eyes opened. He remained still, willing the dream to stay, but it was too late. Rose was gone.

The Doctor sat up, wiping the tears from his eyes. He could never see her again. All he had now were memories.

Only memories, and the rare times when the psychic link to the meta-crisis Doctor bled through into his dreams.

Here’s my attempt at fanfiction.

Doctor Who, takes place some time in s7, in the Library.

A bright light filled the room, accompanied by a high-pitched whirring, and there was River Song. She was just as the Doctor remembered her, all that time ago. The transition from the computer to reality had made her hair frizzier than ever. She looked around, momentarily disoriented, taking in the innumerable shelves of the Library. Then she spotted him. “Doctor?” she whispered, hardly daring to believe that it was him. Her Doctor.

“Hello,” he said. His face lit up with the smile that seemed to take over his whole face. River couldn’t help herself; she ran to him, holding him tight and kissing him. The computer-generated Doctor she had lived with so long was nothing compared to the real thing. The real Doctor.

“And what sort of time do you call this?” she demanded, her voice sharp but playful.

“The right time,” he told her. “Our lives are in order now.”

“No more spoilers,” she said.

The Doctor laughed and tweaked her nose. But as River went to embrace her parents, he spotted something in the corner of his eye. The grin fell from his face. He turned to see that someone else had entered the room. It was a short figure in a white space suit, walking towards them.

“Hello?” asked the Doctor with a confused smile. He kept his outward appearance calm and curious, but inside he was on his guard. The computer had registered no life forms, but he knew there were still uncounted Vashta Nerada in the Library. The Doctor’s quick visit would not have gone unnoticed. They should have returned to the TARDIS as soon as they could.

Amy spotted the newcomer. “Doctor,” she whispered. “I thought you said the Library’s empty.”

“There isn’t supposed to be anyone here,” continued the Doctor. “Who are you?”

“Oh, I only just got here,” responded the figure. The voice was human, and female. The Doctor straightened slightly. And familiar.

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” demanded the Doctor. “This planet was sealed off. We’re all in very grave danger here…”

The figure gave a short laugh. “Danger, yes. That’s why I came. I thought where’s there’s danger, there’s the Doctor. But I guess I missed him by a couple years. Still, I thought I’d come anyway, looking for him.” The figure lifted its arms and twisted off the helmet. It was her. As she shook her head, the long blonde pigtail fell over one shoulder.

“I’m Jenny, by the way,” she said. “Do you know where the Doctor is?”

5 year old cousin: What’s a soul eater?

Me: Creatures that eat you up. I’ll show you a picture…

Cousin: …are they real?

Me: Haven’t you seen them?

Cousin: …no…

Me: Not yet. They’ll eat you up, though.

Cousin: But they’re not real.

Me: Are you sure?

Cousin: …yes.

Me: Really?

Cousin: …

Just thought I’d share two images that just kinda came to me while I was daydreaming about Doctor Who.

The first one is the Doctor finding Jenny again. He sees her and says ”Jenny!” And Jenny’s like “Dad!” And then River Song is all “WHAT.”

And then the second one came to me a millisecond after the first… the Doctor and River Song have a kid. And some random day the Doctor and his kid get caught in an adventure with a past version River Song…

I must say, I like the first one better.

I’m getting my sister to watch all the Doctor Who episodes in the right order, because so far her knowledge is very patchy.

Me: What Doctor Who episode are you on?

Sister: Just finished the one with Charles Dickens.

Me: But what was the preview for the next one?

Sister (without missing a beat): Um…. mm…. I think it was the one with the Silence.

Me: But there silence aren’t in the first…

Little sister: I forgot to tell you- we were driving today, and I saw a car, and the bumper sticker said “my other car is a Tardis.” It even had a little picture of the Tardis next to it…

Dad: What’s a Tardis?

Me, without missing a beat: Time And Relative Dimension In Space.

Dad: ……ok…….?
