” PLEASE take a second to reblog this, it isn’t going to ruin your blog!
Thousands of Calderon dolphins are butchered in Denmark because of a tradition every year. It’s a national holiday drenched in the blood of these intelligent beings. Every year hundreds of young men and women murder dolphins on the Fanroe Islands as a sign that they are taking a right of passage into adulthood. The problem with this is that people don’t know about it and it has to be made public, trend it, talk about it and care for the innocent lives being taken because of a stupid tradition. THIS CAN ONLY STOP IF WE DO SOMETHING. “
This post has been going around Tumblr. Right now, it has close to 10,000 posts. People are taking this biased information and throwing hate at Denmark… along with many others, signing petitions to stop this. In an effort to urge people to really think before they hate, I posted the following comment:
“ This is part of their culture. It has been around for hundreds of years. They kill mainly Pilot Whales (a type of dolphin), which are not endangered or anything. And it’s not senseless killing: they do eat what they kill. It’s like our American Thanksgiving. We go out and slaughter a ridiculous number of turkeys to eat on this one day. Why is this tradition much different? This is part of their diet. They are not the only people to kill and eat dolphins. This is a food still eaten in other places, like Japan. Hawaiians used to eat dolphin too, until we brought our American culture there, forbidding the consumption of dolphin meat. Another controversial food is horse. A horse is just as intelligent as a dolphin. It is also good meat. So what if your culture doesn’t approve of eating horse or dolphin? You can’t judge another culture by your culture. It just doesn’t work. Be accepting, people, and open. “
Unfortunately, my message has been reblogged only twice. I believe it needs a bigger audience. People need to realise that other cultures think about things differently, and that you can’t hate them for their beliefs. People need to be more tolerant and understanding.
Reblog if you support a diverse world.
